HM AHEC recruits the next generation of the healthcare workforce through career exploration programs for youth and by introducing medical and health professions students to the area. HM AHEC retains the healthcare workforce in our area by building partnerships among colleges, economic development agencies, healthcare providers, schools, and government agencies. HM AHEC responds to the needs of our community with clinical training and professional development opportunities. The HM AHEC service area covers ten counties in northeastern New York: Albany, Essex, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington. In this region, many communities have healthcare workforce shortages, resulting in poor healthcare and economic decline. HM AHEC is dedicated to building pathways to improve the healthcare workforce, thus building healthier communities, a better business climate, and improved economic outlook.
